Lavazza’s commitment to decarbonize our website
We think of the online world as a weightless formation of our data, but in reality everything we do online is only possible thanks to an enormous and complex system of our devices, Wi-Fi routers, local telecom networks and data centres - all of which use a lot of electricity. Sadly, the majority of this network is still powered by burning fossil fuels and thus polluting the environment and contributing to climate change.
When we think of the destructive causes of climate change, ordering coffee online probably doesn’t come to mind as a contributing factor. But with the colossal number of data centres and the ever-increasing number of internet users and our devices, the digital world has become harmful to the planet, more so than the entire aviation industry before the pandemic.
Our aim is to contribute to the fight against climate change by zeroing the carbon emissions generated throughout the Lavazza Group’s entire value chain with a strategy for lowering and offsetting emissions: the “Roadmap to Zero”. This is a gradual process: the first steps consist of monitoring and quantifying the emissions, followed by continuous improvement measures with the aim of increasing efficiency and reducing impacts, and finally offsetting the residual emissions. Our aim is to make our Group “carbon neutral”.
Discover moreWe believe in creating a lighter website to minimize the data our visitors need to download, reducing its environmental impact.
Every year, we conduct a digital sustainability audit to identify pain points and implement improvements aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.
Our ongoing efforts to optimize our website not only decrease its carbon footprint but also enhance the user experience.
As part of our Sustainability Plan, we are dedicated to continuously improving our website to make it as efficient and low-carbon as possible.

In 2023, the Lavazza’s Australian home page produced approximately 67 kg of CO2e through 81,704 page views. That is approximately the same weight as 559,167 dark roast coffee beans.
Since 2020, the Lavazza Group is working to become a carbon neutral company. We are working to achieve this by reducing emissions throughout the entire value chain and offsetting all our direct and indirect CO2 emissions as part of our Roadmap to Zero strategy and our commitment to sustainability, Blend for Better.
